Our Story

 Matthew and I were both born and raised in the Hurunui District. We have been married for 36 years and have two adult sons.  We love living in the heart of the beautiful Hurunui District.

We purchased the property in July 1999, with very rose-tinted glasses. We have spent the last 24 years creating a lovely home and garden for our family. We know the importance of stress-free living and would like to think we have created this lifestyle at Hurunui Homestead.

We are both conscious of our wellbeing which is mirrored in our current journey to become certified organic. We grow garlic commercially, plus nearly all our own vegetables. We have a small orchard which supplies plenty of fruit most seasons.

We have an “Old McDonalds style farmyard” with ducks, chooks, goats, cattle, and Charles the cat  all on our 50 acre lifestyle block.  Check out our gallery to meet our menagerie.


We now enjoy sharing our home with our guests, we are relaxed and enjoy meeting people from all over New Zealand and the rest of the world.
